MND-AF is the acronym for ROK Ministry of National Defense-Architecture Framework.

If a system to be acquired for the RoK national defense is supposed to have interoperability with other systems, it should be required to develop the artifacts of MND-AF-based System Architecture.

ROK MND, now having MND-AF v 1.2 officially as the newest version of MND-AF, recently invested in the architecture framework upgrade for fixing existing problems and reflecting current trends in architecting innovation.

Although the current MND-AF version has been created based on the benchmarking of one of the DoDAF early versions, the version contains distinct characteristics of the Korean national defense situation.

MND-AF consists of three architecture view models (Operational View, System View, and Technical View) and thirty-four artifactss as well as several templates, descriptions, reference models (technical standard, interoperability level model, and architecture meta model), support systems, and management tools to support architecture view models and artifacts.

With the practical use of MND-AF, the ROK MND aims to:

1. Effectively manage and reuse information,

2. Retain interoperability across military services

3. Applies to investment priority decision making process
